Providing on-site amenities can boost productivity at work, new report says
Employers are advised in a new white paper to offer on-site services to help employees manage chores and improve work-life balance amid growing return-to-office policies.
"Providing your staff with amenities such as dry cleaning, monthly haircuts, or a personal mail service can take a weight off their minds and boost productivity in the workplace," says the new paper from Reward Gateway and Edenred.
The report acknowledges that a healthy work-life balance is "much harder" to achieve when employees have to spend their weekends and evenings completing errands.
"The feeling of having so many backed-up tasks waiting for you once you finish the working day can be really damaging to your wellbeing and affect productivity.”
It adds that offering on-site services that reduce day-to-day friction for employees is a growing trend among employers.
In Australia, Mineral Resources has introduced a restaurant, a gym, and other facilities in the workplace to encourage on-site attendance after it scrapped work from home last year.
Employers across Australia have been encouraging employees to return to workplaces after years of allowing remote work due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced HR teams to adapt quickly to border closures and office shutdowns, making remote hiring a key part of most organizations' talent strategies. If you're looking for a tool that helps manage global hiring and compliance, read this Remote Review.
One of the most recent examples is the New South Wales government, which ordered public servants to report on-site so they don't miss out on the benefits of learning from experienced colleagues in person.
