The best HR leaders gathered on a star-studded night in Sydney in September, where they were recognised for their hard work and excellence throughout the year.
The Australian HR Awards 2024 honoured the standout performances of HR professionals amid emerging challenges and trends affecting workplaces.
Bagging one of the top prizes of the night was Janani D'Silva from Capgemini Australia and New Zealand, who won HR Manager of the Year 2024.
"HR is a team sport," she said. "There is no one person who stands out. It's nice to be propped up by a huge group of colleagues."
Another winner of the top prize was Coles Group chief people officer Kris Webb, who won the Martian Logic Australian HR Director of the Year award.
Webb said a highlight of her year was getting the right desired hours for their team.
"That's been amazing," she told HRD. "But communicating that to 900 stores across the country is a huge piece of work. We have 125,000 people, so there's a lot of tough bits."
Also winning a top prize was Peter Stewart, chief executive officer of Estara, who was awarded the Martian Logic Australian HR Champion of the Year.
"We are in the people business, so we're supporting vulnerable South Australians every day, and I have a team of 700 people. So, championing the amazing work that they do on a day-in-day basis just feeds my soul," Stewart told HRD.
"It's such an incredible privilege to lead such an amazing team."
Anwar Khalil, CEO of headline awards sponsor and HR technology provider Martian Logic, said they were honoured to be an official partner of the event.
"We are this industry, and so I'm proud of every one of us. We made it, we're here tonight. We are this industry, and I want to propose a toast to all of us, to this industry," he said in a speech.
