In his book, Generation Y: Thriving (and Surviving) with Generation Y at Work, Sheahan says that while this generation can prove difficult to manage, they are also extremely innovative and passionate when you can engage them. In the first lengthy chapter, Sheahan provides a deep insight into the mindset of this new generation, examining everything from their tech savvy and street smart ways, through to their sceptical and impatient natures. Sheahan then looks at this in the context of the workplace and provides practical solutions for the entire employment cycle, from attracting Generation Y through to managing, training, developing and exiting.
