More than 550 permanent roles also being created at Amazon
Amazon Australia is hiring 600 seasonal employees across the country in anticipation of the busy holiday season.
The seasonal jobs will be for its fulfilment centres and logistics sites in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Gosford, and Geelong, according to Amazon.
The hiring spree comes in preparation for the festive season as well as key shopping periods such as Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday.
"The holiday season and festive period is a special time, and we're proud to provide these seasonal job opportunities for individuals in our local communities across Australia," said Jacqui Marker, HR Director of Operations at Amazon Australia, in a statement.
According to Amazon, among the tasks of its seasonal workers are picking, packing, and shipping customer orders. The roles require no previous experience or formal qualifications, with comprehensive on-the-job training to be provided.
"These seasonal jobs are ideal for retirees wanting to stay engaged, students on breaks, or those looking to re-enter the workforce and earn extra income over the holidays," Marker said.
"We welcome anyone interested in rewarding temporary work within an inclusive environment to apply for our 600 open seasonal positions nationwide."
Transitioning to permanent roles
Marker also noted that seasonal roles can be a way to become a permanent employee at Amazon.
