Firm says bonus is one of its ways to recognise, empower employees
AirTrunk is granting its 330-strong Australian workforce a significant one-time bonus in celebration of a major deal, according to reports.
"AirTrunk has given over 330 employees a one-off A$65,000 bonus each, totalling approximately A$22 million — in addition to existing incentive programmes — in recognition of their contribution towards the success of AirTrunk so far — the culmination of many years of hard work and sacrifice from our team," the company stated as quoted by 7News.
The company added that the bonus, which amounts to approximately $22 million, is also its way of recognising and empowering employees.
The major bonus follows a recent $24-billion acquisition by US private equity group Blackstone and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board.
The acquisition is regarded as one of the largest data centre transactions globally, and is expected to be finalised within the coming weeks, according to 7News.
This is not the first time that the company made headlines for being a generous employer.
Earlier this year, the company also made the news after it had flown its workforce to Bali, Indonesia, in a "global get together" for its employees across the Asia-Pacific and Japan.
Robin Khuda, founder and CEO of AirTrunk, said during the get-together that they "haven't even scratched the surface of what's coming up."
"That's why we need to think differently, we need to continually innovate. That's how we are going to be relevant to our customers and our stakeholders," he said.
Founded in 2015, AirTrunk operates 11 data centres across several markets, including Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Singapore. The company is known for providing cloud and content platforms for large enterprises.
