These are the most in-demand jobs in Australia right now

Workers that may have been displaced by the pandemic may find that re-training or transferal of skills can find them employment.

While some roles have been negatively impacted by the events of 2020, some others are now in demand across Australia with competition for talent hotting-up.

According to jobs site SEEK.com.au there are twenty roles that employers are keen to hire for.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, nursing roles are top of the list, although this has not changed since the previous report in February but there is higher demand for those working with the elderly and disabled.

The lockdown-fuelled increase in ecommerce has led to a rising demand for jobs in warehousing, storage, and distribution.

The top 20 are:

  • Nursing-All roles
  • Warehousing, Storage & Distribution
  • Aged & Disability Support
  • Automotive Trades
  • Administrative Assistants
  • Sales Representatives / Consultants
  • Physiotherapy, OT & Rehabilitation
  • Childcare & Outside School Hours Care
  • Chefs / Cooks
  • Retail Assistants
  • Developers / Programmers
  • Mining - Engineering & Maintenance
  • Labourers
  • Road Transport
  • Psychology, Counselling & Social Work
  • Dental
  • Child Welfare, Youth & Family Services
  • Plant & Machinery Operators
  • Business / Systems Analysts
  • Mining – Operations

While this demand will give some good news to the estimated one million Australians who are unemployed, the demand for workers is not universal due to the differing levels of recovery seen across states and territories.
