The biographical film
Lion has dominated the Australian Academy of Cinema and Television Arts Awards (AACTA) in Sydney, winning 12 awards from 12 nominations.
The wins included best film, best direction, best supporting actress and best supporting actor (for Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel respectively).
Moreover, nine-year-old Sunny Pawar, who played the young Saroo Brierley, became the youngest ever winner of the Best Lead Actor category.
Lion recounts Brierley’s journey from India to Australia, and his long emotional search to find his birth mother. The story focuses significantly on themes of resilience and perseverance – themes which are easily transferrable to the workplace.
Brierley’s autobiography ‘A Long Way Home,’ published in 2014, also made him an international best-selling author.
HR professionals can hear directly from Brierley at the 2018
National HR Summit, which returns to Luna Park Sydney on 14-15 March.
Other speakers include Carnival Executive Chairman Ann Sherry, Australian HR Director of the Year winner Carlene York of the NSW Police Force and the heads of HR of
Coca-Cola Amatil, Aurecon, Australian Bureau of Statistics and BankVic.
