Inside Deloitte’s graduate development program
Deloitte’s D.Academy is designed to help graduates focus on self-development and self-discovery, and was so successful that it won best graduate development program at the 2016 Australian HR Awards.

Building exceptional client service, time management, communication, team work and strategic problem solving capability, graduates foster strong community partnerships by applying their skills to benefit not-for-profit organisations’ fundraising campaigns.

Throughout the curriculum, graduates are exposed to senior leaders for support, coaching and guidance and have the opportunity to network with one another as a large cohort.

The 12-month development curriculum, is designed to support and accelerate talent to develop non-technical skills quickly and effectively.

Complementing on-the-job development, D.Academy underpins the firm’s business goals and strategy.

Key aspects include:

The Graduate Induction experience - a six week introduction to Deloitte’s structure, strategy and culture. The gamified first day experience supports graduates with their initial transition to the firm. Innovatively led by their Graduate alumni, this interactive and high energy event integrates business content with break-out sessions, practical insights and personal stories to complement the content.

In focus sessions - a series of 30-minute virtual learning bites, deep-diving into valuable content further enables graduates to understand the firm and expectations of them in their role. D.Academy Break through - a two-day learning event set in an iconic venue. Graduates work in cross-business/regional teams focusing on personal wellness and resilience, personal brand, client service excellence, effective team working and strategic thinking.

Specific learning interventions hosted by subject matter experts primarily, but not limited to, leadership, professional business writing and time management. All modules are live instructor led or delivered in a live virtual environment. Modules are supported by 24/7 digital access to additional blended learning resources to further complement learning.

Business Charity Challenge - a unique project based learning opportunity where teams are challenged to develop an innovative and sustainable fundraising initiative for a Deloitte partnered charity. Graduates make an impact in their local community whilst applying the skills and knowledge they have developed through the curriculum.  In 2015, graduates raised nearly $50,000 nationally.

Participant feedback from Deloitte’s 2015 curriculum has shown that 99% said it will have a positive impact upon their work performance over the next 12 months. Moreover, 92% felt that the content would improve their ‘capacity to act’  and 90% strongly agreed that they would advocate D.Academy to others.
