Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto hiring 500 workers for summer season

Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto is looking to hire about 500 workers as it prepares for the 2024 summer season.

“Trade your part-time gig in a freezing cold, air-conditioned grocery store, factory, or mall to make money at a summer job that lets you spend the entire season exclusively outdoors, surrounded by new friends - poolside,” said the water park.

The employer is looking to fill open positions across all departments.

Open positions include:

  • Lifeguards and slide dispatchers
  • Admissions and guest service workers
  • Food Service workers
  • Park Services workers
  • Maintenance workers
  • Security and access control workers.

“No matter what position you hold at the park, the people skills you acquire working with all different kinds of people will help you throughout your life,” said one Wet ‘n’ Wild worker in a promotional video. “You will become more comfortable with customer service and making others happy.”

Previously, Canada’s Wonderland, Playland and PepsiCo also announced plans to hire workers this year.

Benefits, perks for new Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto workers

Landing a job at Wet ‘n’ Wild Toronto will be beneficial to workers, said the employer.

The company will cover the expense of lifeguard training for those who will be a “great fit with the right attitude”. This type of training costs hundreds of dollars, the employer said.

Also, all staff members will get a discount at the waterpark’s snack bar.

Wet ‘n’ Wild will also let team members enjoy the park together in off hours, with the employer also planning events just for the staff.

“Free things. Who doesn't love free things? Not only will you get tickets to enjoy the waterpark on your day off, but you'll also earn tickets to bring family and friends throughout the summer,” said another worker. “As a Wet ‘n’ Wild employee, you can also use your employee ID to get discounts and free admission to other Ontario attractions. We're all part of one big happy family.”

Late in November 2023, Ottawa started accepting applications from employers for Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) 2024.

For CSJ 2024, Ottawa aims to create 70,000 summer jobs for young Canadians, with an emphasis on creating jobs for youth facing barriers to employment. That is part of the over 140,000 opportunities that the federal government aims to create for youth this year.

The CSJ 2024 priorities are:

  • Youth with disabilities or with organizations that provide services to persons with disabilities;
  • Youth that are underrepresented in the labour market, including:
  • Black and other racialized youth
  • Indigenous youth
  • 2SLGBTQI+ youth
  • Youth in rural areas, remote communities, or official language minority communities;
  • Jobs that provide exposure or experience related to the skilled trades, which may include opportunities in the residential construction sector; and
  • Sustainable jobs that support the protection of the environment or delivering positive environmental outcomes.
