With the rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and its wide adoption within the world of work, business leaders can take human-centric approaches to integrating new technology into HR processes, according to one expert.

“Employees should know how AI enhances their work and where their unique human skills are most valuable,” said Dr. Mansoor Soomro, future of work researcher, speaker and lecturer at Teesside University in England, in a conversation with HRDTV, available for free right here.

With the technology in place, it’s important for employers to find a way to bring the best out of workers, he said.

“Because AI can handle routine tasks, humans who excel at creative thinking and innovation, they take the lead.

“It’s important for employers to consider: “How do we encourage our team to think outside the box, solve complex problems and generate new ideas?”

Recognizing employees as not just resources but key drivers of organizational success is also key, he said. And this means continuing to focus on employee wellbeing, personal development, and diversity and inclusion when integrating AI.

Soomro also talked about the strategies and practices that are essential for managing people across borders and ensuring inclusivity.

“There can be different strategies. As we say ‘different strokes for different folks’.

“We understand the importance of situational leadership. Certain things work in certain industries and certain sectors better.”

He spoke about the importance of prioritizing diversity in hiring and recruiting, and how that is key to promoting inclusivity.
