Panel of HR experts discusses how to design employee benefits to be sustainable while embodying cultures and values
Recently, a panel of HR experts and leaders came together to discuss the importance of harnessing organizational values to influence employee perks and retirement planning.
In this episode of HRDTV, Cindy Hay, national vice president for People Corporation and Taylor Valee, director at the National Enterprise Group Solutions at People Corporation, lead the HR Summit Panel discussion with people and culture leaders of some of Canada’s top organizations.
Meanwhile, leaders from Ardene, Flair Airlines, Securiguard and TransAlta discuss long-term implications of benefits and how to design them to be sustainable while embodying cultures and values.
“We have five core values at our company that really guide our decision making… Two of the values that we think a lot about when we’re looking at employees are integrity and respect,” said Fedoretz, EVP for people talent and transformation at TransAlta, during the discussion.
In a workplace with multi-generational talent, “we have taken a step back to think about how do we bridge across the generations to find benefits and programming and care… and be inclusive for everybody,” she said.
Benefit offerings that meet needs of employees
Ardened realized that it’s benefit offerings did not respond to the needs of its population, said Martine Lamoureux, head of talent and culture, Ardene.
“We decided to do a benefit survey to understand the awareness of the program,” she said.
“What came out of that survey is the people need flexibility. They need to [know] that if something happened to them, that our group insurance and their benefit will help them get though that situation.”
Canadian employers are getting a high mark when it comes to providing the benefits and perks that workers want, according to a previous report from Robert Half.
And providing workers with an array of benefits plays a huge role in their overall wellbeing, according to a previous report.
