'We will continue to drive progress in the employment marketplace'
Employment Hero has acquired Canadian employment platform Humi in a $100-million deal.
“Humi is an incredible business and Canada is an exciting market. I’m thrilled to join forces with Kevin [Kliman]. He’s a passionate founder and Humi’s success to date is testament to his commitment to Canadian businesses,” said Ben Thompson, CEO and co-founder of Employment Hero.
“The Humi team has a deep knowledge of Canadian employment and an impressive track record of supporting businesses in Canada. Humi will remain Canadian-operated, and their team will continue to serve the unique needs of local businesses. I look forward to working with the entire Humi team as we support thousands more Canadian businesses.”
More than three in five businesses across the world say that the financial impact of choosing the wrong HR software is "significant or monumental," according to a previous report from Capterra.
With over one million small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) in Canada, there is an important opportunity to further improve productivity for employees and employers, said the two companies.
“United in our mission to make employment easier and more valuable for everyone, Employment Hero is the perfect partner to support Humi’s growth in Canada. Their investment in Humi is a commitment to our customers,” said Kevin Kliman, CEO and co-founder of Humi. “Together, we will continue to drive progress in the employment marketplace with tailored solutions to meet the evolving needs, supporting local businesses across Canada.”
Sarah Mahabadi, assistant professor of strategy, entrepreneurship and management at the Alberta School of Business, previously said that it’s up to management – and HR – to design their workflows in ways that suit the changing environment. And once workflows are redesigned, performance management systems also need to be redesigned to fit – Mahabadi said – for example, shifting performance measurement markers from hours worked to deadlines or quotas met, regardless of the time it took or when the work was done.
