The online tool allows staff to establish a sense of community among colleagues
Fast food chain McDonald's has begun deploying Meta's online collaborative software tool Workplace to enhance employee experience and further foster a culture of care across the organisation.
In an announcement from Workplace, the platform is now being piloted to fast food chain's participating franchisee restaurants across Australia, New Zealand, Portugal, Slovakia, and Poland. It is also being utilised in some company-owned restaurants in the United States.
Heidi Capozzi, global chief people officer at McDonald's Corp., said that by tapping on Workplace, it can help their franchisees establish deeper connections with their staff.
"At McDonald's, we know the employee experience directly fuels the customer experience—and we are committed to being exceptional in both areas," said Capozzi in a statement.
"By offering Workplace as a resource for those at the heart of our restaurants, we and our franchisees can make it easier for crew to grow and succeed in their jobs, and to build deeper, more meaningful connections with their teams."
Through Workplace, McDonald's employees are able to establish a sense of community among their colleagues, where they can celebrate hard work and share best practices.
They can also access information and essential resources through their phones, with the platform also allowing them to connect and disconnect if they need to.

For restaurant managers, Workplace has also been beneficial as it gives them better understanding of employees' experiences that can help them make better decisions in the future.
Christine Trodella, director of Reality Labs at Meta, said they are "very proud" that McDonald's chose Workplace as its employee engagement platform.
"We knew McDonald's was looking for a platform to share information more effectively, and to foster community by connecting, informing, and empowering teams. We're very proud McDonald’s has chosen Workplace to improve restaurant communication and as a key employee engagement platform," said Trodella in a statement.
"We look forward to partnering on the continuing journey to build the very best employee experience for McDonald's teams around the world."
