Employment Law Masterclass 2024: Understand the risks and challenges of upcoming legal changes

HRD is proud to announce that our next annual employment law masterclass for HR professionals will take place virtually in Toronto on September 5, 2024.

The HRD Employment Law Masterclass Toronto 2024 is specifically designed to equip HR professionals, in-house counsel, and C-suite executives in Ontario with up-to-date knowledge on employment law.

"In an era where the workforce is becoming increasingly mobile and diverse, understanding and implementing the correct employment practices is more crucial than ever," says event organizer Lauren Counce. "The legal landscape is constantly evolving, and staying on top of the many changes to employment law has become mandatory for complying with the latest regulations and avoiding costly litigation."

Amongst many areas of discussion, employment lawyer Jeffrey Goodman, partner at Mathews, Dinsdale & Clark LLP, will be talking about how to handle terminations effectively and fairly while remaining compliant. This session will hit upon important talking points such as;

  • Reviewing termination clauses to make sure they are still enforceable considering recent decisions
  • Special considerations when terminating employees with short tenure
  • Ensuring compliance when terminating or demoting an employee with a disability

The Employment Law Toronto Masterclass, organized by HRD, is a day-long virtual event offering expert insights from industry veterans from Canada’s top law firms. The focus will be on recent cases, court decisions, and the latest legislative changes affecting HR practices and compliance requirements.

"Featuring the expert insights of leading legal minds, the HRD Employment Law Masterclass Toronto promises to provide comprehensive legal updates and practical solutions to complex employment law issues," Counce added.

Registration is now open, with special Early Bird ticket rates available on a limited basis. The event has been CPD approved by HRPA for 4 CPD hours.
