Across industries, these workers will command high salaries
2019 is expected to continue the exponential growth of jobs and wages seen last year in the technology industry.
Out of the 10 fastest-growing jobs monitored by PayScale, a salary data resource center, five came from the tech sector in 2018.
As businesses begin to adopt emerging tech to stay competitive, jobs in the following subsectors are expected to be in high demand today:
“Over the next year, cloud computing software developers will be in high demand as Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud, as well as others will continue to ramp up and expand their cloud computing services to even more industries,” PayScale said.
AI experts, on the other hand, are in such short supply that “even non-profits [are] paying extremely lucrative salaries for talented AI software engineers,” the company noted.
Organisations will also continue to make use of big data to understand consumers better. As a result, they will need data scientists who can collect, clean, model, and analyse vast amounts of data and weave them into a story.
One profession that is perennially in high demand, however, is cybersecurity. Now, more than ever, will businesses need to implement a strategy that keeps up with the hunger for big data.
“The ongoing stream of massive data breaches has shaken consumer confidence and increases the threat of government regulation in the tech space,” PayScale said. “Many companies are trying to shore up their cybersecurity teams to protect their customer data.”
