An employee has been fired after a video emerged of her spitting into a customer’s food during an altercation.
A Pita Pit employee was filmed arguing with customer ShaeLynn Madplume at an outlet in Missoula, during which the worker opens up the customer’s wrap and spits directly into her food.
The video has been shared on Facebook over 200,000 times. The customers allege that they tried to order food from the outlet at 2am but were met with a member of staff who “didn’t want to be at work".
The customers then “dared” the employee to spit, which she did – after which a food fight erupted.
The footage has prompted an apology from Pita Pit, who claimed to have fired to worker on the spot. Writing on Facebook, the store’s co-owner, known as Nancy. Said: “I can see what happened during the video and there is no excuse whatsoever for the type of behaviour shown by an employee that I can assure you is no longer working for us.
“This is an owner-run store. We work here forty-plus hours per week, but we are not in during all hours of operation. This employee's behavior does not represent who we are as a family or a business. It also does not represent the Missoula community.
“You were wronged. I know from experience that sometimes all a person feels they can do to stop unjust behaviors is shine the light on them when they occur. Shining that light can propel change. We are reviewing our policies to see what more we can do. The fact remains that employee violated policies that are already in place.”
