With over 22,000 employees working in 50 countries, JYSK is a force to be reckoned with. Known for their interior décor and chic but affordable products – the Danish organization is a giant in the people management sector too.
At the 2017 Canadian HR Awards, JYSK took home our award for the most innovative use of technology; something which Talent Acceleration Manager Erin Marsden, accepted with pride.
"The event was such a great team-building experience for us,” she told HRD Canada. “We don’t typically get the chance to dress up and celebrate our successes – especially given that last year we had our heads down and buried in our projects. The Canadian HR Awards gave us a good reason to come up for air and celebrate with our team.”
The tech-centered award was given to JYSK after they demonstrated pure skill in implementing a myriad of systems across their HR platform.
“We’ve integrated all of our systems and trained all of our new colleagues in how to use them,” continued Marsden.
“There were six separate initiatives that we launched last year; ATS, HRIS, Learning Management, HR Support and Service Ticketing, and Claims Management. We know that the number of claims has gone down and our ability to track claims has improved over prior years.”
As for the Applicant Tracking System, Marsden told us how they’re now saving their hiring managers significant time with administration, allowing them to dedicate resources to training and developing their teams’. New candidates coming through the recruitment process are ranked, selected, interviewed, onboarded and trained (including background check and offers) through these newly implemented systems – also freeing up essential time for busy HR practitioners.
“We’re now working on implementing a new ERP System, meaning we need to hire skilled candidates to take this project forward,” added Marsden.
“We’re also looking at tech for performance management. I’ve been assessing the core components our organization will require to ensure we are able to identify top talent and customize training and development for our Colleagues to fuel future growth.
“All of these systems are critical in helping our organization continue to grow. In order to make these operations scalable, we really needed to automate.”
And Erin is right to look to the burgeoning HR Tech space for help in streamlining HR processes. It’s the impending influx of automation that has the propensity to change the face of HR forever.
“In an age where you’re expected to do more with less, the more we utilize technology the easier we can make it on ourselves. Embrace the changes, don’t shy away from them.”
JYSK won a prestigious accolade at our 2017 Canadian HR Awards – and you can too!
