That’s one way to hang on to employees: a New York realtor is giving his employees a financial incentive to get the company logo tattooed on their bodies.
While some companies struggle with getting employees to cover their tattoos, one American company has established a “tat incentive” instead.
The owner of a real estate company in New York is giving its 800 employees a unique loyalty incentive – a permanent 15% raise in exchange for getting a tattoo of the company logo. It’s not quite something for nothing, workers have to go through the pain and cost of a tattoo, but they’re not being asked to improve their productivity or sales.
Owner Anthony Lolli said he came up with the idea when an employee voluntarily had the Rapid Realty logo tattooed on himself.
"He calls me up, he says ‘Hey Anthony, I’m getting the logo on me,'"Lolli told CBS New York. "I show up at the shop and I’m like ‘this is cool, how can I repay you?'"
Lolli settled on offering employees that get a Rapid Reality tattoo of any size anywhere on their body are automatically entitled to a 15% pay increase.
He reported that 40 of his employees have already taken him up on the offer.
"I was like, why am I throwing my money away when I could give myself from a $25,000 to $40,000 [raise] for the same amount of work?," Realtor Stephanie Barry said.
Lolli said he would “eventually” get tattooed himself.
