The worker has been hailed a hero on social media
A Burger King employee in Texas has been hailed as a hero, after she went above and beyond the line of duty to help a diabetic customer.
In a Facebook post Rebecca Boening talked about how fast-food worker Tina Hardy helped her during a medical emergency.Boening was driving west on Interstate 40 in Amarillo when she felt her blood sugar dropping. She turned off at the next exit and stopped at the Burger King franchise. Whilst placing her order at the Drive-Thru, Boening mentioned she was diabetic and in need of food.
“Low blood sugar makes it difficult to think or act,” she said.
But as she moved to the window to pay for her order, Hardy ran toward the front of her car with a small serving of ice cream. The employee said her husband was also diabetic and could tell that Boening needed help.
Hardy then told Boening to park across the driveway, so she could keep an eye on her until she felt better.
“Hopefully Tina Hardy will receive the recognition that she truly deserves from the public and from the big bosses at Burger King,” Boening said in her post, which also contained Hardy’s photo which she took at the drive-thru window.
Boening’s account of events, which was posted on December 8, now has more than 500,000 likes, 46,000 comments and has been shared 224,626 times.
Boening later told FOX 5 that she is raising money to buy Hardy a car and perhaps send her to college.
