A Florida woman, Taylor Chapman, who uploaded a video of her abusive rant in a Dunkin Donuts store to Facebook has inadvertently transformed her victim into an internet hero.
Last week the woman filmed an eight minute tirade in which she claimed that a Dunkin Donut employee had failed to honour the company’s policy of giving customers their orders for free when they fail to give a receipt. She demanded to be compensated and filmed the entire episode, frequently stating her intention to upload the video to Facebook.
Apart from the absurdity of her over-reaction, Chapman also vented racist vitriol against the employees. She even threatened to destroy the life of the young woman who had served her the previous evening by publishing her outburst.
Amazingly, both employees remain calm and collected throughout the ordeal.
The video was uploaded to YouTube, and has since received hundreds of thousands of views. However, Chapman is unlikely to be happy with the response, which has favoured the Dunkin Donuts employee.
The Huffington Post has reported that the chain was ‘bombarded’ with suggestions that they reward the employees and the episode has sparked a campaign to raise $10,000 for the pair’s education: Sorry Abid Adar and Nithi. More than $2,000 has been raised so far.
Dunkin Donuts has responded with a couple of posts on Twitter:
And, the Huffington Post has reported that the company has thanked Adar privately and invited both him and Nithi to an event later in the month where they will receive further recognition.
