Clueless HR coming to the small screen

Lifetime, an American cable network, is producing a pilot episode for a new television series entitled ‘HR’ starring Alicia Silverstone. What can we expect?

Lifetime, an American cable network, is producing a pilot episode for a new television series entitled ‘HR’ starring Alicia Silverstone, according to Deadline.

The series will feature Silverstone as an HR director of a multinational who, after a life-threatening injury, radically alters her approach to business. “[Her character] throws standard corporate practices out the window and inspires the business to strive for new ambitions,” Deadline reported.

Apparently, the project has been on the backburner for a while, while Lifetime spent a year finding the perfect lead lady. Now that Silverstone is on board, the project has got off the ground.

So what could we expect from Silverstone as an HR director? Hollywood.com has generated some predictions based on the actress’s most famous, and highly quotable, character Cher Horowitz (Clueless).

What would Cher say?

Inter-office relationships: “Would you look at that body language? Legs crossed towards each other. That is an unequivocal sex invite.” Hollywood.com gave Cher 50 points here for her intuitive understanding of body language.
“Searching for a boy in high school is as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie.” This piece of sage advice garnered 100 points for its applicability to corporate life.
On work-life balance: “It is one thing to spark up a doobie and get laced at parties, but it is quite another to be fried all day.” Another 100 points for the understanding Cher demonstrates here that employees need an opportunity to relax on weekends.
On the office dress code: “So, this flannel thing. Is that a nod to the crispy Seattle weather, or are you just trying to stay warm in front of the refrigerator?” Hollywood.com awarded Cher 30 points for this snipe, which points out the obvious: flannel simply isn’t professional.
On general behaviour: “if the government could just get to the kitchen, rearrange some things, we could certainly party with the Haitians. And in conclusion may I please remind you it does not say R.S.V.P. on the Statue of Liberty. Thank you very much.” Cher’s moving rhetoric here attracted 100 points for teaching us to ‘roll with the punches’.
