A 'vast majority' of employees support the move, according to the company
The Warehouse Group announced on Friday that they’re pushing through with a vaccination mandate for employees following a consultation with staff.
"We have now concluded consultation with our 12,000 employees on a proposal for all team members to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19," the company said in a stock exchange announcement.
The retailer added that, starting January 16, fully vaccinated employees will be the only ones allowed to perform work at The Warehouse Group.
"Supporting our people has also been a key focus for this quarter, including undertaking a comprehensive health and safety assessment on how best to make our workplace as safe as possible in a COVID-19 environment," the company revealed.
According to the firm, the "vast majority" of their employees supported the proposal and feedback from them reflected that the best next step to keep workplaces safe was to get fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Countdown supermarket is also undertaking consultation with staff regarding vaccinations, but their pooling of opinions was recently intercepted by citizens opposing the mandatory jabs. A District Health Board member even resigned after Radio New Zealand discovered that she was among the critics of Countdown’s consultation. Countdown's proposal to staff includes a January 10 deadline and will cover all of their staff regardless of position and location.
