What do HR professionals and an Everest mountaineer have in common?
Mountaineer Peter Hillary has been confirmed as a keynote speaker at the National HR Summit in New Zealand later this year.
The National HR Summit New Zealand in August will see well-known mountaineer and adventurer Peter Hillary take attendees beyond the boundaries of the workplace as he shares his inspiring story.
The son of the late Sir Edmund Hillary who made the first ascent of Mt Everest, Peter Hillary, shares his father’s adventurous spirit and resilience, having summited Everest twice, reached the South Pole on skis, forging a new route across Antarctica, and was the only survivor of a horrific storm on ‘the savage mountain’ K2.
Delegates will hear Hillary discuss how he overcame physical, mental and emotional challenges to achieve success and summit the highest peaks in the world. And he’ll share his ‘Hillary formula’, attributes including being focused on the goal, self-reliance, integrity and passion.
"We're delighted that Peter Hillary has agreed to share his insights with the HR community" said event organiser Sarah Holden.
"Resilience is so critical for HR professionals in New Zealand today and Hillary will be sharing powerful advice that HR professionals can apply in their incredibly challenging day to day roles" Holden said.
The event organisers conducted a survey with the New Zealand HR community, which revealed that resilience is one of the key characteristics for HR professionals to master.
"Let's face it. HR is stressful" said Holden. "HR professionals are constantly on the front line, rolling out change initiatives and having tough conversations" Holden said.
"By sharing his spine-tingling stories of his adventures, Hillary will share the attributes that helped him to overcome challenges, develop resilience and reach his goals" said Holden.
