New Zealand HR salaries remained steady last year according to the
HRINZ Remuneration Survey of Human Resource Practitioners 2014 in conjunction with Strategic Pay.
John McGill, Strategic Pay CEO, told
HRM there was no “huge movement” shown in the results, with pay levels slightly increasing or at similar levels to 2012.
Despite commentators predicting significant pay increases McGill said he didn’t anticipate HR wages would increase substantially. Instead, he predicts the pay levels will continue to remain steady or have smaller lifts.
The report also compared the salaries of HR professionals to those working in Legal/Compliance, Marketing, IT and Engineering and found that HR is generally similar in terms of pay levels to those groups. The comparisons showed that while engineering roles tend to be higher paid in more senior levels, data for the last two years suggests both legal and HR roles may be closing the gap.
See the table below for the median base salary and total remuneration for each HR role according to the survey results.
