New Zealand’s largest locally-owned life insurer announced the appointment this week
One of New Zealand’s leading insurers has named its inaugural head of L&D this week, with newcomer Trecia Brown set to take the top spot.
Fidelity Life Assurance – the country’s largest locally-owned life insurer – confirmed Brown would be taking up the newly-created role of head of professional development.
As head of professional development, Brown will be responsible for coaching Fidelity Life’s financial advisers and developing programs to help advisers keep up to date with best-practise.
“What I’m most looking forward to is being part of a great team delivering professional development to our independent adviser network," Brown told HRD. "Advisers are key partners for Fidelity Life and we want to help them work through the proposed regulatory changes so they can continue to provide great advice and, in doing so, work alongside us protecting New Zealanders’ way of life."
Brown has over 30 years’ experience in financial services and has been actively working with financial advisers for the last 20 years. She joins Fidelity following a six-year stint at partners Life where she was national training manager for the past 18 months.
She has also attained the National Certificate in Adult Education & Training (Level 4) and is qualified to design and deliver training and assessment materials to the standards required by NZQA.

Chief distribution officer Adrian Riminton said the appointment comes as the industry prepares for change under the recent Financial Services Legislation Amendment Bill which introduces new guidelines for financial advice.
“Trecia will develop and deliver high quality training programmes to ensure our independent financial advisers understand their conduct and compliance obligations under the proposed regime, and are fully qualified to provide independent advice that Kiwis can trust,” he said.As head of professional development, Brown will be responsible for coaching Fidelity Life’s financial advisers and developing programs to help advisers keep up to date with best-practise.
