Paul Robinson, New Zealand director of recruitment and HR services firm Randstad, shares his thoughts on HR.

How would you sum up HR professionals in three words?
Strategic, consultative, multi-dimensional

What is the best advice you've ever been given?
Slow down, look back and make sure everyone is following you.

What are some of the biggest challenges HR deals with?
Understanding multiple stakeholder needs and balancing the interests of business demands and people expectations.

How do you see the role of HR changing in the future?
Becoming a lot more strategic and embedded in the business, rather than a one dimensional people-focus. Also providing robust advice to decision makers to assist in the development of business strategies where differing viewpoints can cause fractions and delay execution.

What’s your favoured style of coffee?
Nespresso vanilla

If you could invite three people to dinner, dead or alive, and excluding family and friends, who would they be and why?
Steve Jobs - my inspiration with the way I want to be in business - being absolute about the quality of delivery from every individual and expecting exceptional business results with no compromise.
Nigella Lawson - a well-rounded person - good cook and great fun
Tiesto - Best DJ in the world to keep us entertained.
