Singapore's job market appears to be disconnected amid contrasting priorities between advertised positions and in-demand roles, according to reports.
Indeed's 2024 Rising Jobs list found that jobseekers are turning heavily to service and support roles, contrary to innovative positions that are highly advertised on the platform between November 2023 and November 2024.
"This trend clearly paints a picture of a job market with contrasting priorities — employers chasing innovation while job seekers gravitate toward roles that feel accessible and practical," the report read, as quoted by CNBC.

Singapore's ongoing emphasis on innovation and infrastructure development is also driving roles for machine learning and civil engineering, according to Chand.
