Singapore breaks down which sectors are doing better than others amidst the pandemic
Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower (MOM) today revealed the latest ‘Jobs Situation’ report.
The report focused on the government’s efforts to bolster the manufacturing sector, considered a “significant engine” of the city-state’s economy.
Through COVID-19 jobs support programs, over 1,000 companies in the sector have offered more than 6,300 jobs, traineeships and attachment opportunities. The majority of which went to PMETs (5,100 jobs).
Additionally, MOM highlighted the biomedical science sector as a “bright spot” in the ongoing recession. To date, there are close to 400 opportunities offered by more than 50 companies in the sector under the SGUnited Jobs and Skills Package.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has presented unprecedented challenges in our employment landscape, with some sectors being impacted more than others,” said MOM.
“While the manufacturing sector has been affected by the pandemic, some sub-sectors such as the biomedical science remain bright spots and continue to need more workers.”
