New report reveals most in-demand skills in new world of work
Major changes in workplaces over the past few years have underscored the need for employees to upskill and reskill in order to remain competitive.
But what skills do employers want in this era defined by rapid technology development and evolving workplace arrangements?
In a new report, Aura Intelligence recently analysed millions of job postings to uncover the skills that are in demand in 2025.
"Soft skills such as communication, management skills, and customer service abilities are the clear cornerstone skills in 2025," the report read.
Communication skills emerged as the most in-demand skill in 2025, with nearly two million job postings in December 2024 emphasising the need for them, according to Aura Intelligence.
"Employers value soft skills, and need professionals who can clearly articulate ideas, demonstrate emotional intelligence, lead teams effectively, and foster positive customer experiences."
In-demand specialised skills
The report, however, noted that the relative demand for the top three skills has softened.
"Employers listing needs for communication skills, for instance, dropped by over 20% over the quarter, while management and customer service followed a similar trend," it read.
On the other hand, specialised skills such as innovation and project management reported growth. Marketing also came up as the most in-demand specialised skill for employers.
"These fluctuations suggest a dynamic labour market where both general and specialised skill demands evolve in response to shifting economic and organisational strategies," the report read. "Job seekers should remain adaptable, focusing on refining both evergreen skills like communication and technical specialties like marketing or project management skills."
