‘It's like having a super-smart coworker at your fingertips,’ says head of tech
Citigroup has introduced two new artificial intelligence tools aimed at simplifying work for its employees, according to reports.
The two new AI tools have been rolled out to around 140,000 employees in eight countries where the financial services firm is operating, Reuters reported.
"These tools will help to simplify work and increase productivity," said Tim Ryan, Citi's head of technology and business enablement, in an interview with Reuters.
The first AI tool is called Citi Assist, which Ryan said searches internal bank policies and procedures.
"It's like having a super-smart coworker at your fingertips to help navigate commonly used policies and procedures across HR, risk, compliance, and finance," Ryan explained in a memo to employees.
The second AI tool is called Citi Stylus, which is capable of comparing or searching multiple documents at the same time, according to Ryan.
Citi's head of tech said they will be reviewing how employees interact with these tools to develop new uses for them, Reuters reported.
The countries where the AI tools are deployed include the U.S., Canada, Hungary, India, Ireland, Poland, Singapore, and the United Kingdom. According to the Reuters report, Citi plans to gradually expand them to other markets soon.
Various banks across the world have been deploying AI tools in a bid to improve productivity in their workforces.
OCBC Bank in Singapore introduced a generative AI chatbot last year that will assist staff in writing, research, and ideation. The Commonwealth Bank of Australia has also been using AI for several years now, and launched this year an educational microlearning series to upskill employees on the emerging technology.
