Companies should champion sustainability to attract talent, says expert
Organisations are being urged to foster a climate-conscious culture as today's workforce demonstrate a strong passion for sustainability.
Research from Randstad revealed that this strong call is led by Gen Zs and Millennials, younger members of organisations who the report pointed out would "represent the workforce's long-term future."
"Thus, companies championing strategies that curtail carbon emissions, endorse environmental conservation, and promote eco-friendly practices will be the ones to win the talent war," the report read.
According to Randstad, organisations providing a channel for employees' passion for sustainability will deliver various benefits for employees.
"Choosing to join a climate-centric company offers employees a fulfilling professional journey, aligning their value with career aspirations while contributing to positive change," it read.
"Such commitment fuels a profound sense of pride and accomplishment among employees, knowing that their work is making a difference and leaving a lasting impact."
It added that employees in a climate-conscious workplace would get to collaborate with like-minded colleagues.
"This shared commitment cultivates a keen sense of camaraderie and engagement, fuelling creativity, and driving collective efforts towards achieving shared environmental goals," it stated.
Meanwhile, being a climate-conscious organisation will also contribute to the creation of more green jobs, according to the report.
"The number of green jobs is increasing globally, with an estimated 30 million jobs created in clean energy, efficiency, and low-emission technologies by 2030," it read.
It will also drive job transformation, which will provide employees with opportunities to acquire knowledge and expertise on sustainability practices.
"This same exposure that they get from working in green jobs enhances their skill set, making them valuable assets in an increasingly environment-focused job market," the report read.
