Which HR teams were recognised for innovation this year?

The year 2024 has seen a multitude of trends that impacted workplaces and challenged HR leaders in Asia to adapt and innovate amid these changes.

A lot of HR teams in the region were able to innovate successfully - and even got recognised for this achievement by HRD Asia earlier this year.

Among these innovators is Changi Travel Services (CTS), which saw an equal 25% spread of Baby Boomers, Generation X, Generation Y and Millennials in its active workforce.

Industry expert Helen Coult, APAC regional president at Armstrong Craven, noted that there is a "huge value" in this diversity.

"But it's about how well they integrate," said Coult, who offered an independent analysis on HRD's findings. "The opportunities to have reverse mentoring and mentoring situations are superb. So, it's not only innovative, but a great achievement."

Phan Yoke Fei, head of corporate services, considered diversity as the "hallmark" of their organisation's successful HR policies.

"We constantly engage our employees and we have carefully curated programmes to promote employee cohesion and work-life balance in the workplace, with a mixture of fun activities for employees, such as CTS partner's appreciation day, health and employee engagement activities and anniversary celebratory events," Fei said.

Other innovative measures implemented at CTS include the rollout of its monthly company newsletter, as well as implementation of a peer-to-peer recognition initiative that granted a cash reward.

CTS, a travel solutions provider headquartered in Singapore, is among the list of top innovative HR teams for organisations with 100 to 499 employees.

Certis Group recognition

Certis Group, an advanced integrated security organisation also based in Singapore, represented the organisations with 500 and more staff members.

The organisation's HR team was recognised for its development of a competency library and mapping specific competencies to job roles to target upskilling effectively.

"Upskilling is a key priority at the moment. People are reluctant to move jobs in these uncertain times, so if you've got a workforce, you must work with them and upskill," Coult said.

Jaclyn Lee, Certis Group's chief human resources officer, said their HR innovation is driven by a "mindset of continuous improvement and adaptability."

"We believe in embracing change as a catalyst for growth, which pushes us to explore new strategies and technologies that enhance our HR practices and overall workplace environment," Lee said.
