Tesla CEO promises mistakes to be 'corrected immediately'
Tesla CEO Elon Musk is apologizing for "incorrectly low" severance packages that it offered to laid-off employees, according to reports.
CNBC reported a brief email from Musk delivering the news.
"As we reorganize Tesla, it has come to my attention that some severance packages are incorrectly low," Musk said.
"My apologies for this mistake. It is being corrected immediately."
The apology came after Tesla announced that it is laying off 10% of its global workforce, citing redundant functions after the company's growth over the past years.
Musk said it was "very difficult to say goodbye" to the departing employees but noted that he was very grateful for their contributions to the firm.
"As we prepare the company for our next phase of growth, it is extremely important to look at every aspect of the company for cost reductions and increasing productivity," Musk previously said.
With the layoffs, Tesla joins the growing list of organisations carrying out retrenchments this 2024, including McKinsey and Co., Amazon, Sony, among others.
