Over half are seeking closer collaboration with technology or IT departments
More than half (56%) of chief operating officers in Asia ranked transformation as a top priority for their organisations. This compares with the global average of just 39%.
What’s more, 62% of APAC COOs think ‘change projects’ will become one of the areas they spend most of their time on, according to BNP Paribas Securities Services.
COOs overwhelmingly recognised the importance of collaborating closely with other departments for successful transformation. Over half (52%) said they wanted better partnerships with technology and IT departments.
Currently, 37% of APAC leaders have IT teams reporting to them, compared with 24% globally.

The study found that leaders globally understand that technology alone is not sufficient to help drive transformation — about 67% of COOs said upskilling the workforce is key to achieve genuine success.
This is why HR has a crucial role to play in driving organisational transformation. Rachel Majito-Cacabelos, VP - HR at Teleperformance Philippines shared some insights on the topic.
“The digital and the information technology revolution rages on and we hear about how the workplace of the future will be so different,” she told HRD.
“But no matter what it looks like, the workplace of the future will still be about people, people who share the same values as the company they work for.
“Our eyes must remain open so we do not fall to the temptation of playing blind to imminent change.
“What we do is to prepare our people, keep them informed, keep developing and training them, encourage them to enthusiastically embrace change as opportunities for them and for the company.”
