How does your company’s diversity and inclusion strategies rate against top performing companies in Singapore?
In HRD’s recent survey on Employer of Choice, respondents were asked about diversity and inclusion within their company and 75% agreed that it is being given high priority within their company.
Thirty-nine per cent of the respondents ‘strongly’ agreed with the statement, “My employer has a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion”, giving it the highest rating out of all the sub categories in the ‘strongly agree’ responses in the survey.
The top three companies found to be top performing in this area were J.P. Morgan, Marina Bay Sands, and Shell Eastern Petroleum. Interestingly, these three companies were also awarded the top three Employers of Choice in the large (500+ employees) category.
“Diversity and Inclusion are the cornerstones of our corporate culture. Our clients, transactions, deals and projects are global, so we work hard to create diverse, inclusive teams that support this. It’s good for business and our employees because it leads to greater creativity, productivity and innovative solutions for our clients, shareholders and the communities in which we live and work,” said Ong Wei Han, senior country business manager at J.P. Morgan Singapore.
For Chan Yit Foon, SVP of HR for Marina Bay Sands, diversity and inclusion is deeply entrenched in their hiring strategy. From organising special events coinciding with various cultural holidays to hiring more senior team members 50 years old and above, Chan said that Marina Bay Sands aims to “nurture an environment of openness and foster a deeper appreciation of diverse cultural backgrounds.”
