Employers in Singapore are now required to provide individual contact information of their workers
Employers are now required to provide individual contact information of their workers when completing the application process for their employment passes, S passes, dependant’s passes, and long-term visit passes.
Pass holders’ email addresses would now be required as they complete the application process. For renewals and re-issuances, both an email address and a Singapore mobile phone number are required.
If these contact data change, the information must be updated online.
Applications may be delayed if applicants do not provide the required information.
The new requirements are being put in place so that pass holders can receive important updates during emergencies or about pass-related matters, the Ministry of Manpower said as it informed employers of the change.
Singapore is moving toward a virtual employment pass system. Newly issued passes will contain a code that will allow cardholders or employers to check pass validity, expiration dates and other details on the web or through the SGWorkPass mobile app.
The virtual program has already been launched for work permit holders. It will be extended to employment passes, S passes, dependant’s passes and long-term visit passes in March.
