Search data reveals highly sought roles in Singapore
Sales roles and other positions vacated during the pandemic are in demand among recruiters in Singapore this year, according to resume search data provided by Indeed.
The global hiring and matching platform said resume search data is an indicator of what recruiters are looking for in their organisation. Resume search is a "proactive step" that suggests other recruitment measures, such as posting job ads, haven't been as successful, according to Indeed.
In Singapore, sales roles made up eight per cent of all resume searches on the global hiring and matching platform, indicating high demand for these positions.
Marketing roles were also among the top search queries at 1.7%, as well as customer service roles that made up 1.6% of searches in Singapore.
Pandemic-hit roles rebound
Roles that were hit hard by the pandemic, where many employees were laid off, are also rebounding in demand, according to Indeed's search data.
Positions in hospitality and F&B businesses, such as chefs and cooks (1.1%), events (1%), and baristas (0.7%), reported ongoing high demand despite a global hiring boom after restrictions were lifted.
Recruiters are also still on a hiring spree for retail sector roles, which comprised two per cent of resume search share, Indeed said.
Callam Pickering, APAC senior economist at Indeed, said the findings indicate that Singaporean recruiters are in a "fierce competition for talent."
"This suggests that employers in industries like sales, retail, marketing, customer service, and F&B may need to offer more attractive compensation packages to attract workers," Pickering said in a statement.
"A more proactive approach to recruitment, via utilising tools such as resume searches, may also improve the likelihood of finding the specific roles and skills they need."
